IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR BOTH STAFF AND STUDENTS

CARDINAL OF THE WEEK
The CARDINAL OF THE WEEK program begins on Monday, October 6th.  We are looking for nominations of any student or staff person who you think is worthy of this acknowledgement.  Please put your nominations in Mrs. Byrd’ mailbox in the Health Academy. Nomination forms are available in the Main Office and in all the Academy Offices.      Mrs. Byrd

VOLLEYBALL TEAM FUNDRAISER:
The members of the Girls’ Volleyball Team will be
starting their fundraiser on Monday, September 29th.  It will run until October 10th.  You can
purchase a black MP T-shirt or sweatshirt from any team member.  Please note that all of the sizes
are Men’s Sizes.  You must make payment with your purchase.  Thank you.    Mrs. Byrd.

MELA-O TESTING
will be conducted in the classrooms during the month of October.
Please see   Ms. Rodrigues for more information.

OSHA-10 CLASSES will be held during Periods 2 and 3 on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the
month of October for CDT students in the following programs:  Carpentry, Plumbing, Electricity,  Sheetmetal, and Facilities Management.    Please see Mr. Faneuli for more information.

SOUTH AFRICAN SISTER SCHOOL COMMITTEE: invites the MP Community to assist in
collecting and donating school supplies to nursery and primary schools in the Dundee area of South
Africa.   According to Judith Baker, in addition to children’s books with good pictures and appropriate
text, there is a desperate need for pencils, pens, crayons, markers, scissors, construction paper, glue sticks,
glue.  A shipment will go out in mid-October from the Winchester Transfer Station.  Please put a note in my
mailbox in the Health Academy and I will come and get the donations from you.  Thank you.  J. McRath

SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL:
SSC elections will be held before and after school on Thursday, October 9th.  Anyone interested in running should submit their name to a BTU Building Rep by Friday, October 3rd.

LIBRARY NEWS: The Library is now wireless.  Teachers can use their laptops anywhere in the
Library.  Thanks to Mr. Ramsay, printing from laptops wirelessly is also available.

The MP Library has received an award from the National Endowment for the Humanties in cooperation
with the American Library Association.  The program, called Picturing America, brings masterpieces of
American art into classrooms and libraries.  These pictures are available for teachers to use in their
classrooms.  The Library is a “happening” place.                   Mr. O’Brien

MVA DUES: Mr. Viggiano and Mr. Enright will be collecting MVA dues the next few weeks.
Please support your association by paying your dues for the year – $30.00.  Thank you.

STUDENT GOVERNMENT:
Student government will be starting this term.  Please nominate students in good standing for
Executive Board or General Assembly positions by emailing clearned@boston.k12.ma.us.
Please provide the students’ name, Academy, vocation, homeroom and ID number.

JOSTENS will come back on Wednesday, October 8th, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. in
Cardinal Hall.  At that time Seniors can place their orders for their Caps and Gowns
and School Rings.       Please see Ms. Paynter in the Guidance Office for more information.

MCAS TUTORING: “Classroom at the Workplace” students:  MCAS tutoring will be held on
Mondays, starting 9/29/08, for those students that worked with the PIC over the summer.
Report to Mr. Jackson in Room 2B17 at 2:15 p.m. on Mondays.

Breakfast   is served daily in the Upper Cafeteria of the Humphrey Building and the First Floor
Cafeteria of the Madison Park Building from 7:15 a.m. until 7:40 a.m.  All students
are encouraged to have Breakfast.

INDEPENDENT READING BOOKS: Independent Reading books will be available in the
Main Office from Mr. McAfee’s Library.  Please speak with your English Language Arts teacher
for more information.
