Madison Park Makes Big Gains on MCAS!

Filed under: Uncategorized — mptvhs @ 11:26 pm

Letter to Mr. McAfee from the State DOE:

Kudos to Brighton and Madison for posting such impressive MCAS gains.  I appreciate your willingness to speak to the Herald reporter, whether she called you or not! When she wanted to speak to principals, I suggested both of you to be able to speak about the work behind your gains, but she seemed determined to talk only to the highest-scoring and lowest-scoring school in the district, which I would not accommodate.  I am disappointed with the story on-line at bostonherald.com but hoping we’ll see some improvement in the print story tomorrow.

I’m sure you’ve seen by now the State releasing celebrating your school’s gains:

http://www.doe.mass.edu/news/news.asp?id=4316

UPDATE:  From the Boston Herald – Students, teachers share the MCAS love

Pumping up student pride and after-hours cram sessions helped two Hub high schools jump to the head of the MCAS class, placing them among the most-improved schools in the state, new scores show. Brighton High and Madison Park Technical Vocational High in Roxbury both celebrated double-digit leaps…
